A few thoughts on Radiohead tonight, beyond them being FREAKING FANTASTIC which is a given:
- They HAVE to release a live version of King of Limbs. A starchy and ultimately disappointing record, in live form all of its tracks are absolutely stunning. They should have waited another 18 months before releasing it, frankly.
- If you went yesterday, we basically got your set, but with added AIRBAG, THE NATIONAL ANTHEM, STREET SPIRIT and *deep breath* TRUE LOVE WAITS as the lead in to Everything..
- They now know how to play TRUE LOVE WAITS, so pleeeease release it, let it goooo.
- THE DAILY MAIL is a ready made Bond theme for when 007 takes on a Maxwell/Murdoch type. The intro for it was the quietest I've ever heard a crowd at the biggest music venue in Europe.
- Thank goodness they didn't just 'play the hits' - they are still a fully functioning creative band, they haven't reformed to do a karaoke tour, they're still living it. Long live them!
- Amazingly, they proved that the O2 Arena is not a terrible venue for music. Which now makes me think that everyone I've seen there were just plain awful in comparison.
- 16 years after I saw them on The Bends tour, they are still by far the greatest live band it is possible to see.
That is all.
